How did you get the role in Gadar 2?

I told director Anil Sharma in front that you cast me in your film. At that time he was planning Gadar 2 and he offered me a guest appearance in the film as Fareed. Sometimes your guest appearance in a big banner film grabs everyone’s attention. You also get visibility in the industry. I know this, but I didn’t do this film just because. I have done this for Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma. I respect him a lot, if I had been offered a guest role in any other banner’s film, I might not have done it.

What memories do you have with the film Gadar?

I remember watching the film on a single screen in Vile Parle and I really enjoyed it. You will get to know the real reactions of the audience from single screen. Multiplex audiences are very calm. In the current era, the audience has started going to theaters again, the success of Gadar 2 has become a further example of this.

Films were not running at the ticket window, so the blame goes to our films only.

I think we are moving away from our audience. We are making Eastern European style films and we are hoping that our audience will watch that film. That content is now available on OTT, so they will watch it directly. Everyone just has to copy foreign countries in Bollywood. Some say that there should be no songs in our films, while the great filmmaker Mani Ratnam sir had said that there should be songs in a film. If they are added in the right way, they make the story more effective. I will agree with Mani Ratnam sir. Not any new fledgling director.

You belong to a film family, what are your childhood memories from film sets?

There are many. One memory is very special. Once I went to the sets of my father’s film Loha and there was a real explosion on a bridge made for the shoot. What is your opinion on OTT boom, soon you will be seen in a web series with your father?

These are great times and as an actor I am open to any medium. My next project is Gangster web series which also stars my father Shatrughan Sinha, which will be the first project for father-son duo, it will come on OTT.

How was it facing the camera with your father?

It was cool, I was comfortable. I remember when I was a child, I used to get nervous when I was asked to dance in front of me, but this was not the case during the shooting of this web series. I was quite comfortable. Well we are playing the role of reel father and son and are also involved in politics.

You have seen very difficult times in your career, what advice did you get from your father?

Keep trying and looking for your work. Don’t lose your confidence and work hard. I have also learned from Hrithik Roshan who has been a superstar for so long but still he is very hard working.

Do you believe in getting work through auditions?

Yes why not but along with this I would also like to tell that when a director meets actors in the South film industry, they immediately cast them because the director is confident that he can work with the actor.

Have you ever faced rejection during an audition?

Casting directors do not contact me. I don’t know the reason. I don’t know his thought process. People talk about insiders and outsiders. They target star kids, but many times my friends who are close to the casting directors get roles, but I am not even called. This is also unfair. There should be talk on this too. I think I should get a chance.

Do you mentor your sister Sonakshi as well?

She is my younger sister and I have every right to tell her what is wrong. I will always speak up whenever she is wrong. I told him many times about choosing wrong films. I am very protective about my family.

Sonakshi Sinha has always maintained her no kissing policy on screen, what is your opinion as an actor?

I think kissing and love making scenes on camera are beyond my logic. If we don’t show it on screen, won’t you be able to convey the feelings of love between the main characters. Look at the actors of yesteryear like Sridevi, Amitabh Bachchan, all of them have done romantic scenes even without all these.

Will you do intimate scenes on camera?

Never because I am in politics and I have to think about my constituency, my people. I come from a family where all hold conservative values. I can never give up my values.

How much connection does he have with Bihar?

Very much, I go there often. Just went last month. My attachment is more with my constituency. Those who say that I do not go to Bihar. They don’t know about me again. I go there often.
