In the first round of the auction, Australia’s off-spin all-rounder Ashley Gardner was bought by Gautam Adani’s Gujarat Giants for Rs 3.20 crore ($386,000). Gardner and Nate Skriver were the highest earning players among foreign players. Australia’s star all-rounder Ellis Parry was sold for Rs 1.70 crore ($ 205,000), whose bid was won by RCB. RCB included New Zealand captain Sophie Devine in their team at a cheap ‘base price’ of Rs 50 lakh.

UP Warriors spent Rs 1.80 crore to buy England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone. The five possible captains are Mandhana (RCB), Harmanpreet (Mumbai Indians), Lanning (Delhi Capitals), Beth Mooney (Gujarat Giants) and Deepti Sharma (UP Warriors). Overall, the franchises were kind to the Indian players in the auction and even showed interest in the players included in the Under-19 World Cup squad.
