Wrestling: Sangeeta Phogat won bronze medal in Hungary ranking series

Budapest India’s Sangeeta Phogat won the bronze medal in 59kg after defeating Victoria Borsos of Hungary in the third-fourth place match at the Paulic Imre and Varga Janos Memorial Ranking Series Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday.
In the third-fourth place match, Sangeeta defeated her Hungarian opponent by decision (VPO1) 6-2. Sangeeta took the lead with a takedown move and though the Hungarian leveled the score at 2-2, the Indian grappled with ferocity.
Sangeeta, who is the wife of Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia and sister of Commonwealth Games gold medalist Geeta Phogat, advanced to the semi-finals via the repechage round after beginning her campaign with a shock defeat to Jennifer Page Rogers of the United States. Had reached
She bounced back by defeating another American wrestler Brenda Olivia Reyna in the third round, 12–2, to win by technical superiority (VSU1). Sangeeta took an aggressive approach from the start and took a 4-2 lead with quick moves and won the bout on technical superiority.
Sangeeta got a place in the semi-finals with the victory in the third round but she could not progress further in the final.
Sangeeta lost her semi-final match against Magdalena Urszula Gloder of Poland by 4-6 points, but bounced back in the third-fourth place match to win the bronze medal.
