You have to tear the batsmen to pieces… such advice of senior bowler to Umran Malik

New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Umran Malik has received special advice from the seniors of Team India. Ishant Sharma, one of India’s most successful fast bowlers, has advised Umran Malik to make his speed his weapon. He believes that despite having so much pace, if the batsman is not closing his eyes twice out of fear, then it is of no use.

Umran needs to instill fear in the batsmen
Speaking on Cricbuzz’s show ‘Rise of New India’, India’s veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma talked about the mindset that needs to be inculcated in Umran. He feels that the team management should give Umran the confidence and freedom to use his pace to the fullest. There should be no worry about how many runs are being scored. Ishant said that Umran should be told that he needs to instill fear in the batsmen.

Not stopping runs, taking wickets is the real job
He said- He (Umran) should not worry about where he is throwing. By playing continuously, the line length will be caught. But the most important thing right now is to throw fast. If 150-160, whoever can throw, should throw. He should just back himself up. What does it matter if runs are going. Your job is not to stop the run. Have to get out. What is the use of speed unless the eyes of two batsmen are closed?

Batsmen should be scared of Umran’s name
Ishant, one of the most successful Indian bowlers in Tests, further said – what is the use of that fast bowling when the batsmen do not close their eyes out of fear? So somebody tell him and make him believe that you have to bowl so fast that the batsman fails to see it. Veteran India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said that Umran should be in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad. He needs to learn how to bowl with the old ball and the new ball.

Umran will get a chance in ODI World Cup team
He said- Umran Malik was the discovery of the last IPL. India has never had such a fast bowler. What I really liked is that he has worked on the line length, because it is difficult when you are bowling so fast. He has also been someone who has bowled a lot in the middle of the innings. The more he bowls in the powerplay and death. This increases his chances of being in the 2023 World Cup squad. I think he has done that in T20.
