The box office can be quite unpredictable and for a change, this Friday has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan opened beyond expectations. It collected 5.75 crores on the first day, which is much better than some of the big films that released after the pandemic. One reason for its business was the offer of one free on booking tickets online on Book My Show. Ever since the offer was introduced, there was a sudden jump in the sale of tickets for the film. Initially this offer was valid only for Friday i.e. the day of release. But on Friday evening, the offer was extended till Sunday, June 4.

Interestingly, this offer is not the only reason that is attracting viewers to watch the comedy-drama. An official of a multiplex in Mumbai told Bollywood Hungama, “The buy-one-get-one-free ticket can be availed only when a person books the ticket online. But we saw many visitors buying tickets from the counter where the offer is not valid. This shows that the audience is coming to watch the film not only because of the offer, but also because they are genuinely interested in the film.

The manager of another Mumbai multiplex commented, “The producers have gone for modest pricing and not blockbuster pricing.” On top of that, viewers got one ticket free through the offer. And even without the offer, the reasonable prices played a big role, especially when the second movie of the week, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, drove ticket rates up a bit. Also, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is a clean entertainer targeted at families. The song ‘Phir Aur Kya Chahiye’ has given a great support. ‘IPL season is over and people want to come out for leisure and entertainment.

Another factor is that there were no major Hindi releases in May except Kerala Story. Many people haven’t seen a Hindi film on the big screen in a long time and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has come at the right time. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is expected to have a healthy weekend thanks to the Book My Show offer and genuine interest to watch the film. If it holds up on the weekdays, it could emerge as one of the surprise hits of the year.
