Zeenat Aman remembers Parveen Babi on her birthday

New Delhi: Veteran actress Zeenat Aman remembered late actress Parveen Babi on her birthday and described her as the “most beautiful, glamorous and talented actress”. He also talked about the similarities people noticed between them in the 70s.

Parveen was born on 4 April 1954 and started her career in showbiz through modeling. He made his acting debut in 1973 with the film ‘Charitra’.

However, she was recognized for her acting skills in ‘Majboor’ and went on to become successful with films like ‘Deewar’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Namak Halaal’.

Parveen was in a relationship with Danny Denzongpa and later Kabir Bedi and then Mahesh Bhatt.

She was found dead on 20 January 2005 in her apartment in Juhu, Mumbai.

Parveen and Zeenat were considered the most stylishly dressed actresses of the 1970s and 80s. They worked together in ‘Ashanti’ and ‘Mahan’.

Zeenat, who has given many hits like ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, ‘Qurbani’, ‘Dhund’, ‘Don’, ‘Manoranjan’ and ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, penned a heartfelt message for Parveen.

She shared the note on Instagram and wrote about the similarities between the two: “I want to remember and honor Parveen on her birthday today. Parveen was gorgeous, glamorous and talented. We both used to wear wigs in the 70s. And enjoyed western fashion. However we were told that we have an uncanny resemblance. It must be true, because as recently as last year I was approached in Dubai as ‘Parveen Ma’am’.”

Zeenat said: “Naturally, the media at that time created stories of competition and rivalry between us, but in reality we were always warm to each other. Not best friends, but contemporaries, colleagues and well-wishers. Great to work with.”

Talking about the struggle and Parveen’s mental illness, she said: “Parveen’s struggle with mental illness came at a time when the country is still so insensitive and ignorant on these matters. After her death I often thought that How they are remembered. They focused on their romantic relationships and ‘episodes’. Yet I feel they never really got a chance to speak their mind.”

Talking about her achievements, Zeenat said: “She was intelligent and hardworking and creative. She loved to read, and I remember she used to read books on the sets in between shots. She did an incredible job as an actress. achieved success, even appearing on the cover of ‘Time Magazine’.”

The actress further wrote: “Parveen was remarkable in so many ways, and I hope she will be remembered as the wonderful person she was.”(IANS)
