Filmmaker Nandita Das’s films have always been showing the mirror to the society. Zweigato is the story of the working class of the society, whose importance is great in our daily work, but in our eyes, their importance is small in our thoughts. This film brings the life of the same section and the struggle related to it. The concept of the film is very strong, but the weak screenplay has not been able to do justice to the film, along with this, there has been an excess of issues in the film, the film keeps its perspective on gig economy, political, social situation, due to which any Justice has not been done properly even with one subject.

The story of the struggle of the workers

The story of the film is of the Mahato family living in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The search for livelihood has brought them to Bhubaneswar. There his family was living well, but the factory closed in Corona and Manas (Kapil Sharma), the only earning member of the house, is doing food delivery work to raise the family, but the education of two children, Money is falling short for sick old mother and basic needs. Manas’s wife Pratima (Shahana) also wants to get a job, but Manas’s ego is not diminishing. He asks Pratima to sit at home and says that he will fix everything, like he did when he was unemployed for eight months. Will Manas’s thinking be able to change? This is the story of the film.

Script pros and cons

This social drama film by Nandita Das is basically a family story. Who is living life in less resources. The film brings out the gap between the rich and the poor very well. The climax of the film has become good. Which brings out the spirit of the common man very well. The film reiterates that the situation in a common family can be improved only when both the husband and the wife are equally responsible for maintaining the house.

Talking about the flaws, this film is on the gig economy, in which there is a story of working people. There was a lot of potential in this story, but the screenplay of the film has remained superficial. The target of completing ten deliveries, the religion of the rider, judging his work by rating, the arbitrariness of the customer, all these issues are just touched in the story. Be it the first half or the second half of the film, the story just keeps on going. Nothing like that. Which leaves you to question what will happen now. If Nandita had focused this film completely on the gig economy, it could have become a heart touching story.

Kapil’s hard work is visible in acting

Talking about acting, Kapil Sharma has presented a completely different image from his popular image. Kapil Sharma’s body language, facial expressions show his hard work, just a little bit of language is left. Shahana Goswami has once again settled into her character. The ease with which she has lived the character of Pratima on screen. The amount of praise that can be given to him is less. Both child actors have been good in the role of children. Gul Panag, Swanand Kirkire and Sayani Gupta have also appeared in guest roles in the film.

It was special in other aspects

Talking about other aspects of the film, the cinematography and art work of the film have to be praised, which completely does justice to the story. The dialogues of the film have become good. He brings out the mood of the characters very well. He is helpless, so he is a laborer. Talking about the songs and music of the film, there is a song which plays in the background at the end of the film. This song brings the story to a happy ending.
