Its purpose was to reduce the financial burden on the government. The government had saved Rs 34,402.32 crore due to this decision. Chaudhary said that during the Corona period, the government had to spend a lot of money for welfare schemes. Its effect was seen in 2020-21 and even after that. Right now the budget deficit has reached twice the target of the FRBM Act. Therefore, there is no proposal to pay DA arrears.

Central employees have been demanding payment of DA dues for a long time. Several rounds of talks were held in this regard between the Ministry of Finance, the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery and the Department of Personnel and Training. Due to this decision of the Center, the central employees have got a penalty of up to two lakh rupees. The DA arrears of Level-1 employees ranges from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Similarly, the DA arrears of Level-13 employees range from Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900. Level-14 employees were expected to get Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200 as DA arrears.
