Whenever the revision is announced, the previous month’s dues are given. For example, if the government announces an increase in DA at the end of September, it will be considered effective from July. Then the dues of July and August will also be included in the salary of September.

At present, dearness allowance and relief is being paid to central employees and pensioners at the rate of 42 percent. If the government increases DA by 4 percent, then dearness allowance will increase to 46 percent. The increase in dearness allowance will be applicable from July 1, 2023.

DA is calculated on the basic pay of central government employees. This will provide relief from inflation for central government pensioners. As DA increases, the salary of central government employees increases. Suppose if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 36,500 per month. In such a situation, they will get Rs 15,330 along with 42 percent dearness allowance. But after the 4 percent increase, DA will be Rs 16,790 every month. In such a situation, the total income of the central employee will increase by Rs 16,425-15,330 = Rs 1,460 every month.
Will be available with outstanding
The Act will come into effect from July 1, 2023, as soon as the Central Government announces it. If dearness allowance is announced in October, the employees will have to pay the outstanding amount along with the salary. The dues of July, August and September will be available in this. For pensioners also, dearness relief increases to the extent of dearness allowance.
