Rs 12,815 crore will be spent

Union Minister Anurag Thakur told that the government will spend Rs 12,815 crore on DA hike. After the increase of 4 percent, the dearness allowance of central employees has increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. This will benefit 47 lakh central employees of the country. Along with this, dearness relief (DR) of central government pensioners has also increased. This will benefit 69 lakh pensioners of the country. Dearness relief has also increased from 38 per cent to 42 per cent. This has come into force from January 1, 2023. This means that the employees and pensioners will get the arrears of January and February along with the salary of March.

how much salary increased

Due to increase in dearness allowance, now the employees will get increased salary. Suppose the basic salary of a central employee at present is Rs 18,000 per month. According to 38 per cent DA, he was earlier getting dearness allowance of Rs 6,840. Now DA has increased by 4 percent. On a basic salary of Rs 18,000, this hike will work out to Rs 720. With the increase in DA, an employee drawing a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will now get a dearness allowance of Rs 7,560.

Monthly DA @ 38%: 18000 x 38 / 100 = Rs 6,840
Annual dearness allowance at 38%: 6,840 x 12 = Rs 82,080

Monthly Dearness Allowance after DA increase: 18000 x 42 / 100 = Rs 7560
After the increase in DA, now the annual dearness allowance: 7560x 12 = Rs 90,720
