8th Pay Commission: The employees have been waiting for a long time for the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission and also when their fitment factor will increase. Let us tell you that if both are approved, then there can be a huge increase of 44 percent in the salary of central employees.

Central employees are currently getting pay and allowances as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, which was implemented in 2014, almost nine years ago. At the same time, now the central employees are demanding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. Employees have also demonstrated in Telangana regarding this.

However, there is no clear stand of the Central Government on the 8th Pay Commission yet. However, there is a possibility that after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Central Government may constitute the 8th Pay Commission and it may be implemented by 2025-26.

Salary structure will change due to increase in fitment factor-

If the central government implements the 8th pay commission, then the fitment factor will increase. The fitment factor plays a very important role in the salary received by central employees. The basic salary of these employees is fixed on the basis of fitment factor apart from allowances.

After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in 2014, the fitment factor was changed from the year 2016. Since then 2.57 per cent fitment factor is applicable. Central employees are demanding to increase the fitment factor. The employees want the government to increase the fitment factor to 3.68 per cent.

There will be a 44 percent increase in the salary of central employees.

Let us understand with an example that how much the salary of central employees will increase if the 8th Pay Commission is implemented or the percentage of fitment factor is increased. At present, central employees are getting 2.57 per cent fitment factor, according to which the minimum basic salary of central employees is Rs 18,000. If the fitment factor is increased to 3.68 per cent, then the minimum basic pay will increase by more than 44 per cent ie directly from Rs 8,000 to Rs 26,000.
