Railway cancels 40 trains due to G-20 Summit 300 trains could be affected

Prem Shankar Jha, executive advisor to the Divisional Railway Manager, said that long distance trains have not been affected. Only nearby trains have also been affected. Some of these trains have been short-terminated, some have been canceled and some have been diverted. A senior Northern Railway official said that 208 passenger and 129 mail express will be affected. Out of this, about 40 trains have been cancelled. Some trains will be stopped before their destination. For example, if a local train is coming from UP, it will be stopped at Ghaziabad and then run from there.

Similarly, 78 trains will be given additional stoppages. For example, if a train is coming from Punjab to New Delhi, Badli will be made a stoppage. Passengers can disembark and board from there. Fewer trains will be affected on Sunday as compared to Friday and Saturday. Several major trains like Taj Express, Sarbat Da Bhala Express, Bhiwani-Tilak Bridge Express, Shri Ganganagar-Tilak Bridge Express, Meerut Cantt-Shri Ganganagar Special, Sirsa Express and Rohtak Intercity Express have been cancelled. On Saturday, Mathura-Ghaziabad EMU special will be run via Hazrat Nizamuddin-Sahibabad. Similarly, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ghaziabad Express Special will be run via Hazrat Nizamuddin-Sahibabad on Sunday. Another official said that additional security forces and RPF personnel would be deployed at every station in Delhi. There will be strict security checking at all stations.
