The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his ex-wife Zainab Siddiqui to appear before it along with their two minor children on April 3 to explore the possibility of resolving their issue amicably for the sake of the children. .
The actor had filed a habeas corpus petition regarding the appearance of the accused, seeking a direction to the court to inform his ex-wife about their 12-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son. A bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Sharmila Deshmukh was hearing this petition of the actor. The actor claimed that his wife brought the children from Dubai to India without informing him and this is affecting their children’s education as they are not attending school. The bench on Thursday directed the actor, his ex-wife and their two children to appear before the court on April 3 during an in-camera hearing in the judge’s chamber. “We are concerned about the children… Let us explore the possibility of an amicable settlement,” the court said.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s counsel Adnan Shaikh told the bench that earlier the condition of the proposed consent has been sent on the direction of the High Court. Sheikh said, “We have sent the terms of the proposed consent. It’s been six days but we haven’t received any response yet. It doesn’t look like they want a settlement.” Advocate Chaitanya Purakar, appearing for Zainab, however, argued that she too wanted to settle the matter.
