Superhit films like Telugu superstar Nani’s Makkhi and Jersey have been seen by many Hindi audiences. Now his film Dussehra is releasing Pan India in many languages including Hindi. Nani, who recently came to Delhi, had a special conversation with us. In this interview, he reacted from box office to South vs Bollywood to Ajay Devgan’s Bhola. Read Nani’s full interview.

Nowadays films from South India are being dubbed and released in Hindi one after the other. What would you say about this trend?
I think this is a great trend. Nowadays, due to this trend, people are getting to see good cinema. Soon people will not call cinema as ours, rather they will see only good cinema. Of course, due to this trend, filmmakers of every industry will try to make more good films and the audience will get to see good cinema.

But only select films from Tamil, Telugu and Kannada are doing well at the Hindi box office?
The reason for this is that nowadays the standard of the audience has become high. Now they are saying that at least show me films of this standard, then I will go to the cinema for that. I think this is a very good thing, which will level up our entire industry and everyone will try to make good films. Of course everyone will have to accept the verdict of the audience.

It is being said that after Corona, the choice of the audience has changed. That’s why Bollywood, South or Hollywood, whose films are not doing well?
it’s not like that at all. Rather, I am very excited with the box office of the last two-three years. After Corona, the overall performance of films at the box office has improved. This means that the audience has returned to the cinema. Although there has definitely been so much change that earlier where some audience used to watch a film, then another film has some audience. But nowadays if a film is good, everyone is watching it. In such a situation, you need to make your film the best in terms of content, which every audience would like to watch. If your film is average, the audience will reject it on the first day itself.

Before Corona, remakes of South films were doing well. But nowadays the audience is rejecting them. What do you think is the reason?
I believe that when an audience goes to the cinema, it has a mode. If he is in action mode that day, he might not like a family movie. Actually, since I was a kid, this is the cycle of success and failure of films. Just then there was not so much media and social media. Whereas nowadays due to the abundance of media, the opinion of so many people on a film comes to the fore. This process will continue further. Although Bollywood has already started the process of bringing great films and I think their films will do better in future.

What kind of cinema do people like to watch nowadays?
I believe that nowadays people like such cinema, in which they do not see the world around them. They don’t want to go to the cinema and see something on the big screen that they see everyday. Cinema should be such that people forget all their stress as soon as they reach the theater and reach another world for two-three hours.

How are you feeling after coming to Delhi?
My film has been released for the first time in many languages across the country including Hindi. As soon as the shooting of this film started, we had a plan to release it across the country. I had a great experience visiting all the cities of North India during the promotion of this film. I not only saw Hindi speaking cities, but also tried the cuisine here. And if I talk about Delhi, then my thinking about the capital has always been that all politicians live here. Whenever we take a flight from Hyderabad, one or the other politician is traveling in it and the security personnel are found waiting for them at the airport. But this time going among the fans in Delhi, I realized that very lovely people live here.

Your film Dussehra has a clash with Ajay Devgan’s Bhola. What would you say?
I wouldn’t call it a clash. Let me tell you that when my film Makkhi was released in Hindi, Ajay Devgan sir supported me a lot. I would like to tell my fans that you should watch both Bhola and Dussehra films. Rather I would say that you watch Bhola in the morning show and Dussehra in the evening show.

Actors are playing tricks to run their films in theaters, giving cheap tickets to cameos!
As a superstar, what is your criteria for selecting films?
I think like an audience in this matter. When I read the script of a film, I think that if I went to the cinema with my family and friends, would I enjoy watching this film. Will I get so excited after watching this film that I will go and tell all my acquaintances that they must watch this film. This is the only parameter for me to sign a film.
