In this latest interview to Rediffmail, Adah Sharma says that her own life has changed in the last 12 days. She says, ‘I am seeing that the youth of the country are very fond of this film of ours. I flew through the airport four times in the last week. When I used to be at the airport earlier, fans used to talk to me about ‘1920’ and ‘Commando’. But now mothers come to me, with tears in their eyes, thanking me for opening everyone’s eyes through the film. I meet young girls who find The Kerala Story cool.
‘People have seen The Kerala Story 4-5 times, they remember every dialogue’
Adah Sharma further says, ‘I meet young boys at the airport, who have already seen the film four-five times. He mentions many special scenes and dialogues. I would like to say that The Kerala Story is no longer just another film, it has become a movement. It was different for me as well, because for the first time I was filming a story based on a real life. Shalini Unnikrishnan aka Fatima Baa is one such girl who has actually faced that horror. Has gone through terror.
‘I have met brave girls who have endured it all’
Adah Sharma also revealed during the interview that she has met and interacted with people who are shown on screen. Ada said, ‘I met some very brave girls who are giving interviews about their ordeal. Of course, this is not the girl I play in the film, as Shalini is still in jail in Afghanistan. I think the way the mother of the daughter who hanged herself in Malayalam thanked her at the end of the film was heart touching.’
It is propaganda, who decides this?
Ada has also targeted those who oppose ‘The Kerala Story’ and fuel this controversy. The actress quipped, ‘It is very easy to say that it is ‘propaganda’, but who decides? I know some people are saying that girls get trapped very easily. But when we are all in love, haven’t we made stupid decisions?’
