Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ) is committed to the port project at Tajpur in West Bengal and the company is awaiting completion of legal formalities like draft concession agreement from the state. A senior official of Adani Group gave this information. The official said that once the formalities are completed, APSEZ will start work to develop the port as per its plan and schedule. The official said, “We are committed to develop the Tajpur port in the middle of the sea.
We are waiting for the completion of statutory formalities in this regard from the state side.” The statement came amid a sharp fall in the shares of the group companies after American short seller Hindenburg Research leveled various allegations against the Adani group last month. The Adani group, however, categorically denied these allegations. Adani Ports had entered into an agreement in October last year with the objective of developing the Tajpur Sagar Port, a port located in Tajpur. This port is a major infrastructure project for the economic development of the state. An answer was sought from the state government in this regard. Currently no response has been received.
