Adani-Hindenburg Row: The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear on February 17 a Congress leader’s plea against Adani group companies in the wake of allegations leveled by US-based Hindenburg Research. In the petition, a request has been made to conduct the investigation under the supervision of a sitting judge of the apex court. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha took note of the submissions of the lawyer appearing for Congress leader Jaya Thakur that the petition required urgent hearing.

The bench had initially agreed to list the petition for hearing on February 24, but later when the counsel said that there were two other PILs listed on February 17, the court listed this too for February 17. Jaya Thakur’s petition has also sought directions to investigate the role of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and State Bank of India (SBI) in investing huge amounts of public money in Adani ventures.
