New Delhi, 25 April (Hindustan Times). Despite weak global cues and global pressure, the domestic stock market managed to close with gains for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. However, the ups and downs in the market continued throughout the day. After the day’s trading, Sensex closed with a strength of 0.12 percent and Nifty by 0.15 percent. Due to the strength in the stock market today, the investors got benefit of about 69 thousand crore rupees.
In today’s trade, the stocks of Utility, Power, Realty, PSU Bank, Metal and Infrastructure sectors remained bullish. PSU Bank and Power index gained 1 percent each today due to buying by investors. Realty, metal, oil and gas and infrastructure sectors recorded a gain of 0.35 per cent to 0.52 per cent. BSE’s Midcap and Smallcap indices closed flat today.
Today, due to the boom in the stock market, the wealth of the stock market investors increased by about Rs 69 thousand crore. The market capitalization of listed companies on BSE rose to Rs 267.01 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trade. Their market capitalization was Rs 266.32 lakh crore on the last trading day i.e. Monday. In this way, the total wealth of investors increased by about Rs 69 thousand crore today.
During the day’s trading, there was active trading in 3,649 shares on BSE. Of these, 1,894 scrips closed with gains while 1,633 scrips declined, while 122 scrips closed without any movement. Active trading took place in 2,010 scrips on NSE today. Of these, 1,063 shares closed in the green mark by earning profit and 947 shares closed in the red mark by taking losses. Similarly, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 17 closed with gains and 13 closed with losses. Whereas out of 50 stocks included in Nifty, 32 stocks closed in green mark and 18 stocks closed in red mark.
The BSE Sensex today started trading at a level of 60,202.77 points with a gain of 146.67 points. After the initial ups and downs, there was continuous buying in the stock market till a little before 12 noon. After this, the market started feeling the shocks of selling. Till about 2 o’clock, there was continuous ups and downs in the stock market, due to which the movement of Sensex also kept on going up and down. After 2 pm, the buyers once again pressed, due to which the Sensex gained 212.57 points to reach 60,268.67 points. After this, the index could not sustain at higher levels as profit-booking started in the market. After day-long buying and selling, the Sensex closed at a level of 60,130.71 points with a slight gain of 74.61 points.
Like the Sensex, the NSE Nifty also started trading today with a gain of 18.15 points at 17,761.55 points. The index gained 64.05 points to reach 17,807.45 points with the support of buying amid continuous volatility in the market. Under selling pressure, it also dived to the level of 17,716.85 points with a weakness of 26.55 points in the red mark. After the whole day’s trading, the Nifty closed at a level of 17,769.25 points with a gain of 25.85 points.
