India continued their winning streak in the tournament with a thrilling 2-1 win over China in Ranchi on Monday night.
Speaking to the media after the match, Savita said, “Credit goes to the entire team, they performed well as a unit. China is a big team and we had lost to them in the semi-finals of the Asian Games. So we all Wanted to perform well as a team. It was a really close match. China have some great drag-flickers so we had to perform well as a defensive side and we did well. Our hard work paid off “
Indian team coach Janneke Schopman said that he liked the mentality and attitude of the team and they will have to be prepared for the aggressive team of their next opponent Japan.
“I’m happy with the mentality and attitude our team played with. We played well from the start. I want our penalty conversions to be a threat and we’re getting closer to that. We played some good hockey,” he said. “They (Japan, the next opponent) are playing really aggressively and we have to be prepared for that.”
