On the first anniversary of the heartbreaking Morbi Swing Pool collapse, Adani Foundation pays humble tribute to the bereaved. Adani Foundation is committed to sharing the grief of the victims of the unfortunate incident. On October 30, 135 people lost their lives when the historic suspension bridge over the Machhu River collapsed, including 20 children who became orphans.

The collapse of the Morbi Bridge was a shocking tragedy that deeply shocked not only the local communities but the entire country. As soon as the information about this tragic incident was received, the Adani Foundation team immediately reached the spot and shared the grief of the affected families and provided help to their homes. A total assistance of Rs 5 crore has been provided by Adani Foundation to the orphan children of the affected families.

That day Shivam Parmar had come from Rajkot to meet his parents in Morbi. Unfortunately his parents become victims of tragedy but Shivam survives. Within no time many children like Shivam became orphans. To ensure the future of 20 children who have lost the protection of their parents, Adani Foundation has deposited a fixed deposit of Rs 25 lakh each.

Shivam, studying in class 4, dreams of serving the country by becoming a policeman in the future. Receiving immense love, solace and help from the Foundation, Shivam’s grandfather says with a heavy heart, “My Ram has come home and held his finger in his time of sorrow. Many thanks to Adani Foundation..!”

Even today, the pain of that orgy of death makes the eyes of everyone, young and old, wet. Pregnant Mumtazben, who had come to visit with her family but was unwell, was returning from the pool when she heard the screams of the children.

As soon as she came out of unconsciousness, it seemed as if the sky had literally fallen on her head. Seeing the dead bodies of her husband and two daughters, she again fell into unconsciousness. At such critical moments, Adani Foundation wipes their tears and takes the responsibility of the unborn child.

Not only can a fixed deposit of Rs 25 lakh be made for a three-month-old fetus, its education and health expenses can also be met with the interest amount. Today that child is worshiping and praying for Arhaan Adani Foundation.

Vasant Gadhvi, Executive Director, Adani Foundation, said, “We are grateful to the authorities for the generous help and support extended to the Foundation team when they reached the spot during the Morbi tragedy.”
