Farmers in 12 states including Assam, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are cultivating palm oil by joining Patanjali. He said that last Thursday he had gone to Palm Plantation in Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister has also given a subsidy of Rs 12,000 crore to increase the production of edible oils in the country. Palm plantation work is to be done on 20 lakh acres of land. On the question of damage to the environment due to palm plantation, he said that it would greatly benefit the environment. Presently, plantation is being done on barren land including that land, which is not fertile. Due to this forest will grow, trees will grow, the amount of oxygen will increase, there will be more rain, the land will be fertile and the prosperity of the farmer will increase. There is no question of harming the environment. Dependence on import of edible oils will be reduced. He said that Patanjali would be able to produce one million tonnes of edible oils annually. This is a five year project. Palm sown in a day, lasts about 35 to 40 years.
