Air India Has announced the purchase of a total of 470 large and small size aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. The airline is preparing to expand its fleet and operations. This is the first time in 17 years that Air India is going to place orders for the purchase of aircraft. This will be Air India’s first order after coming under the ownership of the Tata group.

Tata Group The US-owned airline will buy 40 widebody Airbus A350 and 10 Boeing 777-9 aircraft from Airbus. Apart from this, it will buy 210 small size Airbus A320/321 Neo and 190 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Meanwhile, Air India has already started taking 11 B777 and 25 A320 aircraft on lease.

The new aircraft will enter service at the end of 2023
Air India said that the first new aircraft will enter service by the end of 2023. Most of the other aircraft will start meeting from mid-2025. Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran said the airline is on the path of a major transformation. This includes security, customer service, technology, engineering, networks and human resources.

India’s private sector airline Air India will buy 220 aircraft from Boeing in a $34 billion deal. There will also be an option to buy 70 more aircraft. With this, the total value of the deal can go up to $ 45.9 billion. US President Joe Biden has described the deal as a ‘historic agreement’. Announcing the Boeing-Air India deal, Biden said that together with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he is looking forward to further strengthening the relationship between India and America.
With the new order from Air India, Airbus has ordered a total of 850 aircraft in India.
Airbus currently has 470 commercial aircraft in operation in India. After the new order of Air India, a total of 850 aircraft have been ordered with Airbus in India. According to the announcement of the ‘White House’, Boeing and Air India have reached an agreement, under which the airline will buy a total of 220 aircraft. These include 190 B737 Max, 20 B787 and 10 B777X aircraft. This deal is worth 34 billion dollars. The deal includes an option to buy an additional 50 Boeing 737 Max and 20 Boeing 787 aircraft. In this way, the deal for a total of 290 aircraft will cost $45.9 billion.
