Complainant’s lawyer Vijay Laxmi Srivastava said, “Earlier the court had issued summons several times but she did not appear. Later, the court issued a warrant against him.” According to the complaint, Singh had deposited Rs 2.5 crore in the bank account of the actress for the production of the film ‘Desi Magic’. However, Ameesha did not act in the film and sent a check of Rs 2.5 crore but it bounced.

The Supreme Court had in August 2022 stayed the summons sent by the Jharkhand trial court against Patel in the criminal case of cheating and breach of trust. The high court had rejected Patel’s application to quash the trial court’s order in respect of the complaint against him and quash the case against him.
