Amid political controversy, Kangana Ranaut clarifies on ‘soft porn’ comment on Urmila Matondkar

Actress and BJP leader Kangana Ranaut has defended her comment on actress Urmila Matondkar calling her a ‘soft porn star’, saying she was “comfortable in that role”. Kangana Ranautwho has been fielded by the BJP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, also underlined that words like “porn star” and “soft porn” were not inherently objectionable.

When Ranaut was asked about her controversial remarks about Urmila in 2020, she said If these actresses are comfortable with terms like Tandoori Murgi, Item Girl, Sheela Ki Jawani, why is it seen as a violation? It’s a matter of fact, if they’re comfortable with it, why would you want to embarrass them? I personally don’t think I had any intention to embarrass her (Urmila Matondkar) because she is very comfortable in that role.

Explaining the reasoning behind her comment, Ranaut said, “I personally believe that I belong to that balanced cinema artiste tribe. I have never done an item number. So, I only said that if she is like her kind In terms of filmography, I have a more attractive collection of work.”

Kangana Ranaut A 2020 video recently went viral in which she is heard calling fellow actor Urmila Matondkar a “soft porn star”. This development comes amid the controversy over Congress leader Supriya Shrinet’s alleged objectionable remarks on Ranaut.

The ‘Queen’ actor also said that nowhere in the world do porn stars get as much respect as India and gave the example of Sunny Leone. Ranaut further said “Are ‘soft porn’ or ‘porn star’ offensive words? No. It’s just a word that is not socially acceptable. Porn stars in India get more respect than they do, ask Sunny Leone, nowhere else in the world Would get.”
