New Delhi. Cooperative Minister Amit Shah will release the National Cooperative Database on Friday for the development of cooperative centric economic models. According to an official statement issued on Thursday, Shah will also release a report on ‘National Cooperative Database’, 2023. This is another important step of the Ministry of Cooperation to fulfill the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Prosperity through cooperation’.
Under this initiative, the Ministry of Cooperation has recognized the need for a robust ‘Database’ to capture vital information about the vast cooperative sector of the country. “In collaboration with state governments, national federations and stakeholders, a National Cooperative Database has been developed to promote cooperative-centric economic models,” the statement said. The database is a web-based digital ‘dashboard’. ‘ which includes data of co-operative societies including national/state federations.
The ministry said, “The national database has collected information about about eight lakh cooperative societies with a membership of more than 29 crore spread across different regions of the country.” The program organized on Friday was attended by secretaries and other senior members of central ministries/departments. Around 1,400 participants including officials, Additional Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries of the Cooperative Department of States/UTs, Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) cooperative societies will be participating.
