Amul products thrown on the streets
Members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike staged a protest in the state on Monday. They protested against the direct selling of milk by Amul by throwing the company’s products on the streets. Vedike has also warned against direct sale of Amul products in the state. Vedike activists say that there is a conspiracy to sell Amul brand milk and curd in Karnataka and to merge Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) with Amul. The organization has condemned this. Vedike’s president T.A. Narayana Gowda and Vice President D.P. Anjanappa said that Amul is playing with the sentiments of the Kannada people.
What is the reason for the protest?
The seeds of this protest have been sown only last week. That week, on April 5, cooperative company Amul tweeted a tweet. In that tweet, the company wrote that it will supply milk and curd as well as some milk products in Bengaluru. After this, the Congress accused the BJP that it wanted to eliminate Karnataka’s milk brand Nandini. This is a conspiracy to destroy the brand Nandini of Karnataka Milk Federation. A news has also come that the government has allotted a plot of land near Bengaluru to Gujarat’s brand Amul.
Hotel Association with Nandini
Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has made a tweet addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has been said in this tweet that who is coming to Karnataka? Is the purpose of his coming to loot the kingdom? At the same time, Congress State President DK Shivakumar visited the Nandini Milk Parlor in Hassan today itself. Meanwhile, the Hotel Association of Bangalore has announced to continue using Nandini’s milk products.
What is the allegation of the opposition parties
Opposition parties in Karnataka have alleged that when the state has its own milk brand then why does it need Gujarat’s milk products? The opposition has decided to take this issue to the common people. And, after this, protests started across the state. Hashtags like Boycott Amul, Go Back Amul also started trending on social media.
