New Delhi. Former Railway Board chief Anil Kumar Lahoti has been appointed chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The top post in TRAI has been vacant for almost four months. Former Chairman P.D. Vaghela’s tenure ended four months ago. According to the notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Lahoti, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, as the Chairman of TRAI.”
He will hold the post for a period of three years from the date of assuming charge or till he turns 65 years of age or until further orders, whichever is earlier.” Meanwhile, the industry welcomed the appointment of the new TRAI chief. and expressed hope that it will usher in a period of growth and progress for India’s dynamic telecom sector.
