Audi India preparing to locally assemble electric vehicles

Audi India chief Balbir Singh Dhillon said that starting local manufacturing of EVs is a work in progress and active discussions are going on with the company’s global headquarters. “We are working very positively with Audi AG and hopefully at some point we will be able to announce this,” he said.
Inglestad. Luxury vehicle manufacturer Audi India is considering starting local assembly of electric vehicles (EV). If this happens, the company will be able to provide vehicles at lower prices in India and will help in increasing its customer base. Audi currently imports the entire range of EVs into the country. These include Q8 50 e-tron, Q8 55 e-tron, Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron, Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron, e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT etc. However, the company assembles petrol models like Q3, Q3 Sportback, Q5, Q7, A4 and A6 at its manufacturing plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
