There will be a half-day holiday in banks, insurance companies and regional rural banks on January 22 on the occasion of the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Offices will remain closed till 2:30 pm. Earlier in the day, the Department of Personnel and Training issued an order regarding central institutions and central industrial establishments.
Order issued regarding leave
The department said in the order issued to all the ministries/departments of the Central Government, Ayodhya Ramlala Pran Pratistha ceremony will be celebrated all over India on January 22, 2024. To enable employees to participate in this festival, it has been decided that all Central Government offices, Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments across India will remain closed for half a day till 2.30 pm on January 22, 2024.
The order also applies to public sector financial institutions and RRBs.
A Finance Ministry notification on Thursday said the DoPT order will also apply to public sector financial institutions and RRBs so that employees can participate in the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha ceremony. The consecration ceremony of the new idol of Ram Lala will be held in the sanctum sanctorum of Ram temple on Monday.
Half day holiday in all central government offices on 22 January
All central government offices across the country will remain closed for half a day on January 22 due to the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The ministry said in the order issued to all the ministries/departments of the Central Government, the celebration of Ram Lalla’s life consecration ceremony in Ayodhya will be celebrated all over India on January 22, 2024. To enable employees to participate in this festival, it has been decided that all Central Government offices, Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments across India will remain closed for half a day till 2.30 pm on 22 January 2024.
