Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor
Bhopal-Vidisha-Sagar-Kanpur Economy Corridor will be constructed. For this, this economic corridor will be constructed from Bhopal to Sagar via Vidisha and from Sagar to Mahoba district via Kavarai to Kanpur at a cost of 11300 crores. With the construction of this highway, the distance between Bhopal and Kanpur will reduce from 15 hours to 7 hours. With the construction of this corridor, connectivity from Bhopal to Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi will improve. At the same time, time will be saved in commuting from Bundelkhand to Bhopal and Kanpur.
Apart from this, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 18 National Highway projects with a total length of 550 km at a cost of Rs 6800 crore at Orchha in Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, Gadkari said that two decades old demand of the local people to build a bridge in Betwa has been fulfilled. He said that this 665 meter long bridge has been built at a cost of Rs 25 crore. He said that the connectivity of Orchha, Jhansi, Tikamgarh would be improved with the construction of 2-lane paved shoulder bridge and footpath.
The minister said that the construction of Powai, Orchha, Harpalpur, Kaithi Padariya Kala, Patna Tamauli, Jasso, Nagaud and Sagar Link Road bypasses would reduce the traffic pressure in the city. Sagar Greenfield Link Road will reduce the distance from Bhopal to Kanpur by 21 km, Mohri to Satai Ghat and Chowka to MP/UP.
He said that the widening of 4 lanes till the border would bring down the travel time drastically. He said that the problem of traffic jam would be solved by the construction of flyovers at Sagar City, Chhatarpur City and Gadhakota. Gadkari said that the tourist places of Madhya Pradesh Orchha, Khajuraho, Panna, Chitrakoot, Tikamgarh, Sanchi will be easily accessible. He said that with the construction of Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor, transportation of cement and minerals would be easy and logistic cost would be reduced.
The minister said that with the construction of this corridor, connectivity from Bhopal to Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi will be good, traffic will be safe due to the construction of a 2-lane road from Tikamgarh to Orchha. In this program, Gadkari also announced the construction of 105 km long 4-lane greenfield road from Bamitha to Satna at a cost of Rs 2000 crore. With the construction of this road, tourism of Tikamgarh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Khajuraho, Bandhavgarh National Park will get a boost.
