Ravi Kumar and Mohit Joshi left the company to join Cognizant and Tech Mahindra respectively. Last week, Tech Mahindra announced the appointment of Joshi as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will take over from CP Gurnani after his retirement on December 19 this year. The country’s largest software services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday suddenly announced that its CEO Rajesh Gopinathan will take over only by September 15, with more than four years left in his tenure.

Industry veteran and former Infosys director T V Mohandas Pai told PTI, “Overall, the turmoil in many companies is the result of multiple factors coming together.” It is good for the industry that there is a change of leadership from time to time, because it brings new people and new thinking. Pai said, barring one or two exceptions like Cognizant, the common reason is that everyone has seen the stress of the pandemic. Some may be feeling tired and want a change.
