Talking to reporters, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that no party had a clear majority after the 2019 election results. In such a situation, some decision had to be taken in the public interest. Both the parties BJP and JJP decided to form the government together. There was a need for alliance between us as well as JJP. He said that BJP’s alliance with JJP is continuing and will continue in the future. However, he gave a roundabout answer to the statements made by BJP’s Haryana in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb and the frequent meetings with independent MLAs. On the meetings being held with independent MLAs and the suggestions given by these MLAs to break the alliance, the CM said, every person has his own point of view. Despite repeated requests, he did not comment on these meetings. It may be mentioned here that before this, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has also given a statement in Sirsa about the cordial relationship between the alliance. He has also said that the BJP had an open-hearted alliance with the Akali Dal in Punjab for many years. The JJP emerged as the representation of Jat voters – the BJP emerged as the dominant party representing non-Jats. From this point of view, this alliance was also natural.

The section of BJP which is giving priority to fighting the elections alone by breaking the alliance with JJP regarding the assembly elections to be held in 2024, is walking on the path of suicide. BJP will not only suffer political loss in the state due to the breaking of the alliance, but it will cause a bigger loss to the BJP at the national level.

The opponents of the BJP are already alleging that the BJP wants to end or break the alliance by putting pressure on the parties with it over time. There could be many political reasons for breaking the alliance in Maharashtra, Punjab, but the question mark is being seen on the BJP’s policy. The BJP is the largest political party in the country today and has a government at the Centre. If this message goes to the regional parties that their political existence will be in danger by forging an alliance with the BJP, then the BJP will once again become a political untouchable.

The national leadership of BJP and the Modi government have done more than one work in Punjab to please the Sikh voters, especially the farmers, but the BJP is still politically untouchable in Punjab. The main reason for this is the political conflict at the state level.
If the BJP has to win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the state assembly elections, then it clearly has to end the tension and fear that has arisen in the hearts of its allies due to political uncertainty. If BJP is in the role of elder brother, then it will have to play that too. The statement of Haryana Chief Minister shows political maturity and is timely.
