BJP moving towards strength

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which once had two Lok Sabha MPs, has today established its identity as the world’s largest political party. The Bharatiya Janata Party was born in 1980 from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh founded in 1951 by Late Syama Prasad Mukherjee. After the Emergency in 1975, the Jana Sangh merged with several other parties to form the Janata Party. The party wrested power from the Congress in the 1977 general elections and a non-Congress government was formed in the country for the first time after independence. The foundation of the Bharatiya Janata Party was laid on 6 April 1980 by dissolving the Janata Party. The form of BJP that we all are seeing at present can be called the golden era of BJP. The BJP contested elections for the first time in 1984 after the formation of the party. The party got only two seats in the Lok Sabha in the general elections.

Former Prime Minister of the country late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani played an important role in strengthening the BJP. Construction of Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, implementation of Uniform Civil Code, removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and many other nationalist issues have been the main focus of BJP. Today the number of its members is more than 18 crores. 2014 was the most important year for the BJP when the party won 282 seats on its own in the Lok Sabha elections. Contesting the Lok Sabha elections for the first time, Narendra Modi got unprecedented success and became the Prime Minister of the country. In 2019, the BJP once again won with a majority and formed the government for the second time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There were many major achievements of the BJP in the year 2019, including the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and the passage of the amended Citizenship Act. The Bharatiya Janata Party was technically another form of the Jana Sangh, most of its cadres were its predecessors, and Vajpayee was made its first president. Since its inception, the economic policies of the BJP have been changing slightly due to time, but the basic spirit remained the same. The BJP was a supporter of the trade policy that protected indigenous and indigenous industries.

The BJP’s policies related to security and counter-terrorism have been more aggressive and nationalistic than the policies of the Congress. Historically, the BJP’s foreign policy, like that of the Jana Sangh, has been based on fierce nationalism mixed with economic protectionism. After winning only two seats in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections, the party gravitated towards Hindutva. The BJP won 85 Lok Sabha seats in 1989, then 120 in 1991. In 1996, Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister of the country for the first time, but this government lasted only for 13 days, after that when Vajpayee becomes the Prime Minister again in 1998, this government runs for 13 months. In 1999, under the leadership of Vajpayee, BJP gave the first permanent coalition government to the country, which lasted for a full 5 years. After the BJP lost the elections in 2004, the search for the next round of leaders in the party began. When the BJP could not make a comeback even in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi, then the Chief Minister of Gujarat, was entrusted with the task. The BJP fought the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on the face of Modi. In those elections, the BJP did its best ever performance and was in a position to form the government on its own for the first time. The party got 282 seats. In 2019, BJP won 303 seats and Modi again became the Prime Minister. When Amit Shah was the BJP President, he started a campaign to make BJP the largest political party in the world. In many states BJP formed government on its own and in many states with alliance. In 2019, Amit Shah was made the Home Minister and the responsibility of the party’s president was given to J.P. Nadda was handed over. The party also performed well under the leadership of Nadda. The credit goes to Nadda and his team for the landslide victory of the BJP in the recently held assembly elections in the northeastern states. BJP regained power in Tripura for the second time. In Meghalaya and Nagaland too, the BJP formed governments in alliance. Uttar Pradesh which is most important from political point of view. The 80 MPs in the Lok Sabha play an important role in forming the government at the Centre. After 37 years, a party came to power for the second consecutive time in UP and Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time. Making a record of its victory, the BJP won a bumper victory in Gujarat, where the BJP has been in power for the last 27 years. This victory of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and North Eastern states has opened the doors for Narendra Modi again at the center for 2024, say political analysts. In short, if late Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave birth to the BJP, then under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the BJP realized its strength by forming the government at the Center for the second time. It can be said that on the foundation laid by Vajpayee, Narendra Modi built a magnificent palace in the form of BJP. From the time BJP was founded in 1980 till 2014, PM Modi left no stone unturned in fulfilling the promises made to the people. Following nationalist policies, adopting and implementing the ideology of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of the constitution, construction of Ambedkar’s memorial, construction of Ram temple, law on triple talaq, removal of 370 from Jammu, Citizenship Amendment Act, surgical strike and air strike to Pakistan Giving a befitting reply, raising India at the international level, saving the country from an epidemic like Corona, making Make in India and Swadeshi, have been done by Narendra Modi in the last almost 9 years, which were the dreams of the founding leaders of the BJP. The credit for completing them goes to Narendra Modi. India is moving towards becoming a world guru under the leadership of Narendra Modi. India has emerged as the fifth largest economy of the country. Narendra Modi is going strong as a world leader. It is a matter of pride for the country.
