Mumbai Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani has got a U/A certificate but the Central Board of Film Certification (CFBC) has asked the makers to delete certain words, dialogues and references from the film.
The makers have been asked to remove profanity, mention of Lok Sabha and reference to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, among other changes.
The makers have also been asked to remove a popular but derogatory slur used several times in the film. Instead of this word, the makers have now used the word ‘sister di’.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC has also asked to remove the mention of Lok Sabha from a dialogue and not to use any other term in its place.
The makers have also been asked to make changes to the Rabindranath Tagore scene, which has become the subject of massive discussion after the film’s trailer came out.
The brand of rum, Old Monk, is changed to Bold Monk in the film.
In the casual shop scene, a dialogue has been asked to be removed in which West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been mentioned. In this scene, the word item has been used in place of the word bra.
‘Rocky and Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ is a two hour 48 minute film. It also stars Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. It will be released in theaters on July 28.
Directed by Karan Johar, the film focuses on a flamboyant Punjabi man and an intellectual Bengali journalist who fall in love with each other. Since their families opposed their relationship, the two decided to live with each other’s families for three months.
The film also stars Tota Roy Choudhury, Churni Ganguly and Kshiti Jog among others.
