He said that we must now strengthen the UK-India relationship.
Next round of FTA talks between India, UK this month
The 13th round of talks for the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Britain will be held in Delhi this month. The Ministry of Commerce gave this information on Friday. Earlier, the 12th round of talks took place from August 8-31. An official statement said that UK Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch visited India for the meeting and met Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. According to the statement, they discussed the FTA and agreed on ways to take the negotiations forward.
Indian High Commissioner positive about India-UK FTA talks
Ahead of the 12th round of talks for the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Duraiswamy expressed hope that the two countries would be able to reach a “favorable position” for a mutually beneficial deal. The 12th round of FTA talks began on 16 August in New Delhi. High Commissioner Duraiswamy had said that he was positive about this as both the countries understand the complexities of two very different structures of similar size economies and they are ready to make necessary adjustments. Regarding the comprehensive bilateral partnership, he expressed the hope of ‘clear harmony’ in various fields.
