In fact, during the last two-three years, the number of urban bodies in Bihar has more than doubled. Earlier the total number of municipal bodies in the state was 142, which has now increased to 261. The urban population has also increased from 11.27 percent to 15.28 percent i.e. 1.59 crore. Drainage system, cleanliness of the city through machines, roads, transport, water supply, parks, street lights, toilets etc. community facilities will increase in these cities on receipt of special funds for the preparation of infrastructure. There is a possibility of getting more amount for other schemes of urban development like PM Awas Yojana, Nal-Jal etc.

Emphasis on cleanliness and credit of cities

In the budget, the central government has emphasized on urban cleanliness and increasing the credit of cities. The government’s focus has been on using 100 percent technology for sewage disposal and cleaning of manholes in all cities. For this, they will be made capable through equipment. A separate policy will be prepared for the management of dry and wet waste. To increase the credit of cities, they will be prepared for municipal bonds.

Sufficient funds will also be available for metro

The central government has collectively arranged about 20 thousand crore rupees for metro projects. Patna Metro will get sufficient amount marked from this item. Smart cities running in four cities of the state, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bihari and Bhagalpur, and work is already underway on the AMRUT scheme in other cities. There are 18 municipal corporations and 83 municipal council areas in the Tier Two category, whose population is more than 50 thousand. Except some Nagar Panchayats, other Nagar Panchayats are included in Tier Three category cities.
