Tire maker MRF on Wednesday said its consolidated net profit doubled to Rs 341 crore in the March quarter due to lower raw material costs. Similarly, consumer goods maker Havells India Ltd.’s integrated net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2023, grew by 1.57 per cent to Rs 358.04 crore. Godrej Properties’ net profit for the fourth quarter of the last financial year has increased by 58 percent to Rs 412.14 crore. The Investment Board of Nepal has approved an additional investment of Rs 608 crore in the Nepalese unit of Dabur India. GR Infra has been declared L-1 bidder for a four-laning road project in Uttar Pradesh.

Domestic stock markets closed down on Wednesday. Earlier, there had been a rise in them for eight consecutive days. The BSE Sensex ended with a loss of over 161 points. Although foreign institutional investors made good purchases, losses in index majors Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Larsen & Toubro also weighed on the market. The Nifty also closed at 18,089.85, down 57.80 points, or 0.32 percent. Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, Wipro, Infosys, HCL Technologies, IndusInd Bank and Tata Steel were major losers in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, gainers included Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Tata Motors, UltraTech Cement, ITC and Nestle India.
