New Delhi. The market capitalization of InterGlobe Aviation, the company operating the country’s largest airline Indigo, reached Rs 1 lakh crore on Wednesday. It is the first airline to reach this milestone. Shares of InterGlobe Aviation closed at Rs 2,619.85 on the BSE, up 3.55 per cent on Wednesday. At one stage during trading, it had also touched a 52-week high of Rs 2,634.25, rising 4.12 per cent.
At the same time, the company’s shares closed at Rs 2,621.10, up 3.61 per cent, on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The rise in share price took the market valuation of the company to Rs 1,01,007.56 crore on BSE. So far this year, the stock has gained 30.53 per cent on the BSE while the Sensex has gained only five per cent during this period.
Keeping in mind its expansion plans, IndiGo had last week announced a firm order of 500 aircraft to Airbus. This is the largest order Airbus has received from any airline. Indigo is the largest domestic airline of the country and is now expanding its international operations as well. Its share in the domestic market stood at 61.4 per cent in May.
