New Delhi, March 24 (Hindustan Reporter) Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday that the Central Government has given every penny due to Karnataka to the State Government on time. There has been a 258 per cent increase in tax devolution from 2014 to 2024, which is 3.5 times more than in the 10 years of the Congress-led UPA government.
Finance Minister’s Office told X Post that Nirmala Sitharaman said this while addressing the Thinkers Forum organized at RV Dental College, JP Nagar in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Sitharaman said every outstanding amount of the state has been accounted for and funds have been released to them on time. The amount received by Karnataka per year between 2004 and 2014 was Rs 81,795 crore, which has increased to Rs 2,93,226 crore from 2014 to 2024.
Addressing intellectuals and academicians, Sitharaman said that 14.68 lakh Jan Dhan accounts were opened in Bengaluru, while 52 crore accounts were opened across the country. In the 10 years of BJP rule, grants-in-aid have increased by 273 percent, which is 3.7 times more than the previous 10 years. This statement of Sitharaman has come at a time when Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said a day earlier that the state government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking the Center to immediately release grants under the National Disaster Response Fund to the state which is facing severe drought situation. Has requested to give instructions.
