Central government’s PLI initiative pays off, Apple provides employment to more than 1.5 lakh people – Dainik Savera Times

New Delhi: Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Monday said Apple has directly employed over 1,50,000 people since the approval of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme in 2021, making it the country’s largest blue-market employer. The caller has become a job creator. The NDA candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat and minister of state in the Modi government said that ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s transformative PLI policies have led to indirect employment for around 3 lakh people with a total of over 4 lakh new jobs.’

He wrote on social media platform X, ‘iPhone factories are ready to provide direct jobs to more than 10,000 people between June-September.’ iPhone production in FY24 crossed Rs 1 lakh crore in February, of which 70 per cent was exports and the total market value was Rs 1.6 lakh crore. The Union Minister said, ‘iOS app development now supports more than 1 million jobs. Apple has launched an education initiative on women’s health as part of its $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund.’

Apple’s revenue in India is set to reach nearly Rs 50,000 crore in FY23, with sales rising 48 per cent to Rs 49,321 crore and net profit rising 76 per cent to Rs 2,229 crore, the highest for Apple in India in the last five years. There is an edge. Top electronics industry body India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) last month had said, ‘India is close to achieving the target of mobile phone production of Rs 20 lakh crore in the last 10 years, while it will reach Rs 1.20 lakh crore in the current financial year. Phone exports have crossed Rs, which is a massive 7,500 per cent increase in exports in a decade.
