The crisis in Tata Group-owned Vistara Airlines is not over yet. Vistara Airlines is facing shortage of pilots. Due to shortage of pilots, the airline has decided to cut 10 percent of its flights. The company management is trying to persuade the pilots as soon as possible so that the problem can be resolved.
Meanwhile, the company’s CEO Vinod Kannan has written a letter to the employees, in which he has assured the employees that everything will be fine.
Vistara Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vinod Kannan told the airline’s employees that now “the worst is behind us” and operations have stabilised. The Tata group airline was forced to temporarily cut its capacity by 10 per cent or 25-30 flights a day due to problems with pilots.
Kannan told the employees that the beginning of the new financial year has been challenging, which everyone has faced together. The airline faced significant operational disruption from March 31 to April 2. He also admitted that things should have been planned better to deal with this situation. Kannan said that a lot has been learned from this which will be beneficial in future.
“The concern and frustration felt by our customers is equal to the pain we felt hearing negative comments being made about our much-loved brand in various quarters… I assure you that the worst,” he said in a message to employees. The situation has now been put behind us and our operations have stabilized with our On-Time Performance (OTP) increasing to 89 per cent as on April 9, 2024…” The airline has a fleet of 70 aircraft. It is scheduled to operate more than 300 flights every day in the current summer schedule.
