Listed companies contributing to the Chandrayaan-3 mission include L&T, Valanchad, Centum, Paras, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, BHEL, Linde and MTAR. Around 400 companies are part of ISRO’s large vendor ecosystem. ISRO has set up this vendor system after full vigilance in the last 54 years. These companies meet ISRO’s requirements of components, materials and fabrication. Experts say that the private sector also has an important role in ISRO’s Chandrayaan mission. Many components have been supplied for the Chandrayaan mission in these companies. ISRO’s vendors include Ananth Technologies Ltd and Godrej & Boyce.
Which company’s contribution
The launch vehicle booster segments and subsystems for the Chandrayaan-3 mission have been developed by Larsen & Toubro. Similarly, the batteries have been supplied by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The test and evaluation system has been developed by the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation while the mission components have been made by Walchand Industries. Hyderabad-based company ATL’s founder and CMD Subba Rao Pavuluri said the company has built a variety of electronics and mechanical subsystems for ISRO’s launch vehicles, satellites, spacecraft payloads and ground systems.
Mumbai-based company Godrej & Boyce has supplied critical components such as liquid propulsion engines, satellite thrusters and control modules for the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions. In India, in 2020, its space sector was opened for private sector participation. Last year, a consortium of HAL and L&T had won a deal worth Rs 860 crore from New Space India Limited to build five PSLVs. Experts say that now big companies can invest in technology and play big bets in the space sector.

Who is the nodal agency
Many companies in the country want to jump into big projects related to rocket, satellite and space. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center is the single window nodal agency for authorizing, promoting and regulating private companies in the space sector in the country. A total of 20 companies in the country have shown interest in making SSLV. ISRO has developed this small rocket. With this, satellites can be sent in the lower orbit of the earth at a low cost.
