san francisco (Best Hindu News): Twitter’s name change to X by Elon Musk saw its weekly active users fall by four percent in the next few weeks. The X app dropped four places to No. 36 in the overall category ranking earlier this month, according to data from app intelligence firm Sensor Tower. This happened due to an eight percent decrease in its installs. iOS and Android both registered declines of 22 percent and 18 percent, respectively.
Average user time and sessions spent on X declined by five percent following the rebranding. “Twitter rebranded to X earlier this week saw mixed reactions from its users, some of whom expressed displeasure over the abandonment of the classic blue bird logo,” the report said.
However, a TechCrunch report citing data says that installs of the Twitter Lite app designed for emerging markets have increased following the name change.
Twitter Lite downloads increased by 50 percent over the previous timeframe. Revenue also increased by 25 percent between August 6 and August 20, mainly due to revenue from iOS (up 24 percent). The X rebrand also affected other apps such as rival BlueSky, Instagram Threads and Mastodon. In the first week (July 23 – August 5) of the rebranding exercise, Meta’s Threads downloads dropped by 70 percent, dropping the app to 16th overall. According to data from Sensor Tower, BlueSky and Mastodon saw downloads increase by 180 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
