Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presented an annual budget of Rs 1,21,500 crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the assembly on Monday. In the budget, a monthly allowance of Rs 2,500 has been announced for the unemployed youth of the state. Baghel also announced an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers, home guards and village kotwars. The Congress government has tried to help the youth, farmers, laborers, women and employees in the election year.

Baghel said that the budget presented with the vision of ‘Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’ is focused on the prosperity and development of the state keeping in mind the agriculture and rural economy, which will strengthen the objectives of the ‘Chhattisgarh Model’. He said that this budget is a sincere and strong effort by our government to fulfill the promises made to the people of Chhattisgarh in the year 2018. The Chief Minister said that a new scheme will be started to give allowance to the unemployed.

Under the scheme, 12th class passed unemployed youth in the age group of 18 to 35 years, whose annual family income will be less than 2.50 lakh, will be given an allowance of Rs 2,500 per month. It will be increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 10,000 and from Rs. 3,250 to Rs. 5,000 per month. Similarly, the honorarium of ‘mini’ Anganwadi workers will be increased from Rs 4,500 to Rs 7,500.

The Chief Minister also announced an increase in the honorarium of village Kotwars. He said that the monthly honorarium of village Patels would be increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000. He said that the honorarium of sweepers employed in schools would be increased from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 2,800 per month. The Chief Minister said that a provision of Rs 200 crore has been made in the budget for the establishment of four new medical colleges in Manendragarh, Gidam, Janjgir Champa and Kabirdham districts. He said that no new tax is proposed in the budget.
