Clock’s ticking, job search has limited time: Sacked Indian-origin Microsoft employee

New Delhi: Nearly 10,000 employees have been affected by job cuts at Microsoft, and among those affected is an Indian-origin employee in the US, who recently shared a heart-wrenching story about being fired from the company on LinkedIn. Pain of thousands of employees affected by retrenchment to find jobs.
Alisha Acharya, technical program manager at Microsoft, who spent five years at the company in Seattle, wrote in her LinkedIn post: “Heartbroken. I was impressed by the recent round of layoffs at Microsoft. Took me a few days to understand this news but I am fine now. Since I am on H1B, the clock is ticking and I have limited time to search for a job.”
“I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with over my five-plus years at Microsoft,” she said. The Indian-origin employee is currently looking for new opportunities and asked her contacts on LinkedIn to help. “I have over 8 years of experience, starting as a Systems Engineer and spent over 5 years as a Technical Program Manager at Microsoft,” said Acharya.
“It sure has been one hell of a ride. Lastly, for anyone in a similar situation, my heart is with you. Take care of yourself. Hang on and this too shall pass. In January, Harshita Jhawar, a data and applied scientist at Microsoft who spent four years with the company in Washington, was also fired. He wrote on LinkedIn- “I am impressed by the layoffs at Microsoft today. Several teams on the hardware side were laid off within Microsoft. I am on visa and have limited time to find a new job.”
