Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal is making waves on social media and at the box office, but the excessive violence shown in the film is not going down well with a section of the audience. Raising this issue in Parliament, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ranjit Ranjan said on Thursday that films with such themes promote violence and misogyny in the society. Speaking about the blockbuster Arjan Valley song, which has been topping the charts since its release, the Rajya Sabha member said it is shameful to depict the history of Arjan Valley in the background song of Gangwar.

Congress leader claimed “Cinema is considered to be the mirror of the society. We have grown up watching films and they have an impact on the society, especially on the lives of the youth. Nowadays, some films are being made which show a lot of violence. Recently, There is a movie called ‘Animal’. I can’t tell you that my daughter and many other girls studying with her in college walked out of the hall crying after watching half the movie.

Earlier, Bollywood lyricist and poet Swanand Kirkire had criticized the makers of Animal on X. She said, “After watching the movie ‘Animal’ today, I really felt pity for the women of today’s generation.
