The goods train was first run on this route at 10.40 pm on Sunday in the presence of the Railway Minister. After this, Vande Bharat Express also ran on this track on Monday morning. Now the Coromandel Express will again run on the track from today with its earlier speed. In fact, on June 2, the Coromandel Express, which was the victim of an accident, collided with a goods train near Balasore. More than 250 people died in three trains. More than a thousand people were injured.

Coromandel Express is one of the prime trains of South India. It started in the year 1977. The land that was ruled by the great Chola dynasty of Tamil Nadu is called Cholamandalam in Tamil. This is where the word Coromandel comes from. This train is a part of South Eastern Railway zone. This train completes the journey of 1662 km in 25 hours 30 minutes. Its maximum speed is 130 kmph. It is given highest priority while traveling from Shalimar to Chennai. It is also known as King of South Eastern Railway. This train runs non-stop between Vijayawada to Chennai in Andhra Pradesh. It has only two stoppages between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam at Eluru and Rajahmundry. Apart from this it stops at Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kharagpur. This train has five stops in Andhra Pradesh, seven in Odisha and only two stops in West Bengal.

Train No. 12841 Coromandel Express departs Shalimar at 15.20 hrs and reaches Chennai Central at around 16.50 hrs the next day. In the return direction, train number 12842 departs from Chennai Central at 07:00 AM and reaches Shalimar at 10:40 AM the next day.
