According to a report, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has approved a four per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees.

In an official release issued by the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday, it has been said that this step will put an additional burden of Rs 2,366.82 crore annually on the exchequer. This decision of the government will benefit 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners. The release said that this increase will be applicable with retrospective effect from the beginning of the financial year, April 1, 2023. DA has been increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. It has been said in the release that when the central government will take such a step in the future, then the state government will also increase the DA accordingly.
