Delhi’s peak power demand reaches 6,916 MW as summer heats up

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd., which distributes electricity in the northern part of Delhi. In a statement, the company successfully met the peak demand of 2,012 MW in its region. The company also said that its region’s peak power demand this season is expected to reach 2,320 MW. Keeping this in mind, the company has made arrangements for additional power of 2,500 MW.
BSES spokesperson said that BSE Rajdhani Power Ltd. and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. The peak power demand in the regions was 2,934 MW and 1,525 MW respectively and was successfully met. He said, “Delhi’s peak power demand witnessed fluctuations this month. The demand on May 1 was 3,644 MW, which has reached 6,916 MW today. The main reason for the increase in electricity demand in Delhi is the use of cooling equipment like air conditioners, coolers. It is estimated that about 50 per cent of the electricity demand in summer is due to cooling equipment.
