DGCA: The number of passengers of domestic flights doubled to 1.25 crore in January 2023. This information has come to light from the official data released on Monday. Earlier, in January 2022, the number of passengers of domestic flights was 64.08 lakhs.
Indigo’s market share decreased in the domestic market
According to the data, Indigo’s market share in the domestic market declined to 54.6 percent in January. This is the 5th consecutive month when Indigo’s market share has decreased. In the last month, Indigo served 68.47 lakh passengers. At the same time, in August 2022, Indigo’s market share in the domestic market was 59.72 percent.
More complaints received than in December
According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data, more complaints were received in the month under review than in December regarding problems in flights, baggage issues and staff behavior. Air India and Vistara’s domestic flights carried 11.55 lakh and 11.05 lakh passengers respectively in January. Their market share was 9.2 percent and 8.8 percent respectively.
AirAsia India carried 9.30 lakh passengers
In the month under review, the total number of passengers of GoFirst offering economical services was 10.53 lakh. Whereas, the number of passengers of AirAsia India stood at 9.30 lakh. During this period, 9.14 people traveled by SpiceJet flights. Domestic flights of Tata group airlines Air India, Vistara and AirAsia India collectively carried 32.30 lakh passengers in January.
